Successful event in Port Talbot

Our regional event in Port Talbot last week was a great success with many local groups and individuals coming to hear all about Renew Wales's support and share their ideas with each other for future projects.

Taibach Community Centre was the setting for our regional event 'Sustainable, Resilient and healthy Communities' on 8th November. It was very well supported by local organisations, groups and individuals all keen to hear how Renew Wales can support their project to undertake action on climate change.  We heard from Kate Hamilton, Director of Renew Wales and from Philip McDonnell who explained the role of Swansea Environmental Forum as an example of a host organisation for a Renew co-ordinator.

Futher inspiration came from three case studies from groups who have already benefitted from support and  have acheived much progress in their respective communities.

There was a choice of 4 workshops too which were facilitated by some of Renew Wales' mentors and provoked a lot of discussion and questions.  Maybe one of the most important parts of an event like this is to allow space for natural conversations to happen, to share ideas and experiences and this was also achieved over breaks and lunch.

We very much hope that any groups who attended and have ideas for projects will get in touch with us to encourage the inspiration to continue in this area of Neath and Port Talbot.
