Housing-led Regeneration Network Event
Thursday 12th November, Beechwood House, Newport Theme: Housing co-operatives and community empowerment
Housing co-operatives are groups of people who live in and collectively manage their accommodation – from shared houses, to blocks of flats, to entire housing estates. This involves taking responsibility for arranging repairs, making decisions about rent and who joins or leaves the co-operative. Living in a housing co-operative can be a good way to get affordable housing and may give you more control over where you live. There are a number of different types of co-operative housing, either for rent or for sale, but they have one fundamental thing in common: they put democracy and community ownership at the heart of housing.
The next CREW and Community Housing Cymru Housing-led Regeneration Network meeting – which is themed on the subject of Housing Co-operatives and Community Empowerment – will take place on Thursday 12th November at Beechwood House, Beechwood Park, Newport, followed by a site visit to the Loftus Garden Village housing cooperative.
